HCD 105 - Survey Design Training for CCSQ

Overview

Surveys are one of the most frequently used methods of collecting information from a group of people. Yet perhaps because we’ve taken so many surveys throughout our lives, it’s easy to discount the rigor and planning necessary to gain meaningful information. 

Learning Objectives

During this online, two-hour training, attendees will learn about a survey life cycle, general guidelines, best practices in survey design, and how to avoid common problems while gaining insights into this popular research method.

  • Duration: 2 hours  

  • Level: Beginner

  • Prerequisites: Recommend completion of Foundational Learning Path (FLP) courses HCD 101 Introduction to HCD and LACE Agility Foundations.

  • Companion Courses: Consider HCD 103 Optimizing Usability with Site Analytics.

  • Attendee types: All CMS development teams, leaders, SMEs, policy staff, management supporting CMS policy, business, products and services.

  • Class type: Remote w/ interactive and collaborative exercises.

  • Objectives:  After attending the remote training, attendees will be able to create surveys following a seven-step process including how to define goals for research planning, write straightforward questions, and obtain accurate and meaningful results,  while supporting effective decision-making through the lens of customer data.
