This section is an introduction about Slack. The following is information which is placeholder text but could also be used to help populate this section. However it is not approved for use and thus only serves as placeholder text in this instance.

Slack is a collaboration tool that will be available for use within the HCQIS Community on November 18, 2019. Slack will be HARP integrated, thus leveraging a different user account than what is currently used to access the HCQIS Atlassian tool suite.

If you plan to use HCQIS Slack, you must obtain a HARP ID and submit a request for a Slack user role. During the initial rollout you can submit your request for a Slack user role by providing your HARP ID to your Security Point of Contact (SPOC) by November 5th . Your SPOC will work with the Slack team for the bulk assignment of Slack roles to eligible users.  Email communications with detailed instructions will be distributed in late October 2019.

    What Slack training resources are available to me?

    There are many ways in which HCQIS Slack users can get training and help on learning Slack and getting the most out of the tool. Options include:

    • Slackbot:  This is a tool to assist on how to do something in Slack by asking Slackbot a question or entering keyword(s).  Slackbot will provide an answer or suggest articles from the Slack Help Center.
    • Slack Foundry: This is a training app for Slack installed on the HCQIS instance of Slack. It provides integrative tutorials to help your team get the most out of slack.
    • Slack Tips: Learn how your team can get more out of Slack. Review documented tips on topics ranging from Slack Basics to Cross-Functional Collaboration.
    • Slack Channels: Send questions and comments to the HCQIS Slack team via the following Slack channels: Announcements-cms-hcqis and Slack-help

    Additional training is being developed by the HCQIS Slack team, and more information will be available soon regarding how to participate.

    Will HCQIS Slack integrate with HCQIS Atlassian like HipChat does?

    Slack has the ability to integrate with Atlassian in the future; however, the initial delivery will not provide direct integration.

    There will be no migration of content from HipChat to Slack. If you are interested in archiving your current HipChat content before HipChat is discontinued, contact the PM3 Atlassian Support Team at PM3AtlassianSupport@tantus.hcqis.org for assistance.
