Errors & Warnings Implementation Strategy

• Phased-in approach.
• Target Completion Date:  All codes to be reinstated by June 1, 2021.
• Timeline:   
  Phase 1 - Admit Reason Codes (Prod-Preview Date = 3/1/2021)
  Phase 2 - Patient Codes (Prod-Preview Date = 4/9/2021)
  Phase 3 - Clinical Codes (about 41)
  Phase 4 - 2728 Code (about 13)
• For Phase 1 and 2 - Will not have refreshed prod data in prod-preview environment. Should not have impact on testing since patient records will be created if not existing in environment.

Update on Test Environment with Prod Data

• Data last refreshed in PP 2-3 on 9/16/20 - 9/20/20
• Continue to work on refresh strategy for prod-preview environment.
• Input from EDI for refresh strategy - Cadence: Every 2 weeks?
• Homework - EDIs to discuss on refresh strategy.

Admit Reason Codes

• Ready for testing in prod-preview: 11221, 11222, 11223, 11224, 11225.
• 11222 and 11225 are already errors in prod today. Expectation is to still include these in testing scenarios.
• EDIs should include testing patient admit discharge reason logic.  
• Warning messages does include previous discharge reason code provided by prior facility.  If the codes do not follow the admit discharge reason logic, should be able to understand why errored out based on the warning message from feedback file.

Patient Code Review

Lisa

• Reviewed codes and discussed with EDIs to come to a final decision on whether it remains an warning or will be turned back on as an error.
• Reference the spreadsheet for final decisions.

Support during testing phase

Curt

• Discuss how it was during pre-implementation and moving forward.
• Homework - EDIs to discuss testing meeting cadence for testing discussion.
• Homework - Is there anything beyond testing phase that is required of EDIs to prepare codes for production?

  • If does not impact XML files- no issues.

  • If requires fix within EDI's system - would require more time and would need to relook at timeline. CMS agrees that this would require adjustment to timeline, but does not anticipate changes to XML. Will be taken on case by case basis.

Feedback for Clinical and 2728 Codes

• Homework - Provide list of validation codes for LDOs to provide feedback and comments.
• Determine if can combine clinical and 2728 codes into one phase?
• Kelly and Kathleen to review codes for 2728 codes.
