System Updates

Lagging Issues:

    • Issue Description: SAS Viya users have reported intermittent lagging and freezing while utilizing the application.
    • Resizing efforts have taken place during the September 9th maintenance event to improve SAS job processing times

iQIES Data Issue:

  • Issue Description: The SNF Providers have not been updated in the assessment_iqies schema after the most recent refresh on 10/19. The latest entry for the sys_ld_id column in the natl_facility_mds table is September 26, 2022
  • Workarounds:
    • For federally certified providers, users can join to the csp_prvdr_cmn table
    • For CDR reporting, the csp_prvdr_cmn table would be the preferred table for nursing home provider demographics. All MDS records should be joined to that table.
  • Resolution: There is a fix in the backlog but the iQIES team needs confirmation from CMS before table updates are made, which is expected in the November 1st data refresh

Scheduled Maintenance Events:

    • November 4th
    • December 2nd

All events will begin at 8:00 pm ET and end approximately at 11:00 pm ET. Some events may require longer time, in which case users will be notified separately. A communication will be sent out once maintenance is complete. As a reminder, whenever there is maintenance on the environment, you will need to make sure all of your code and table changes are saved.

Data Source and Usage Updates

QMARS Longer Text Fields - 1/12/2021

  • Workaround: Consider using healthcare_service_qmars_ng if your DUA supports it
  • Final Actions Claims Discrepancy – 09/19/2022
    • Final Actions in Claims data may change over time, as data refreshes will update Final Actions value in historical data
    • Recommendation: If you responded to the recent survey that you are impacted by this issue, please create a helpdesk ticket so that we can work with you directly
CSAT Updates
  • The D&A and DVA Teams collaborated to produce the May-September CSAT delivery for maturities 2 and 5
  • The team ran QA following each step of the CSAT process to ensure that the results were valid
  • The team is on track to produce the October CSAT delivery by COB 10/28

Parallel Runs

    • Parallel runs through the pre-process and main CSAT steps to verify that the results match exactly

Automated QA

    • Record counts in pre-processing to validate accurate data
    • Record counts during resizing (compression) to validate the final record counts, prior to publishing

Manual QA

    • Manually analyze the row counts for a sample set of output tables, to track metrics like percent variance and seasonality, by comparing with the CSAT output of previous months.
    • A historical report for 5 selected states (AK, CA, TX, VA and KS) is used for this purpose. This ensures that the table counts fall between the permissible range.
    • If any outliers exist in table growth rates from month-to-month, check for the possibility of any duplicate values or re-create the table by executing the specific CSAT step again.
    • A comparison of the unique number of claims is performed between the corresponding ABASE and ARVC tables and BBASE and BLINE tables to confirm that no data is lost or incomplete.
CDR Persistent Storage Migration Update

Data & Analytics Team has completed reaching out to CDR users to migrate legacy hive data sets from HDFS to S3

Benefits:

    • Frees up disk space within CDR Cluster
    • S3 storage provides unlimited capacity, better persistence, and lifecycle capabilities
    • Supports future migrations of CDR Architecture to better alternatives

Dependency:  Data & Analytics will depend on teams for coordination and validation of migrated data sets

Migration has been completed in phases with multiple groups at a time

    • Phase 0: X-small databases (up to 100 GBs) – Completed
    • Phase 1: Small databases (100 GBs-1TB) – Completed
    • Phase 2: Medium databases (1-3 TBs) – Completed
    • Phase 3: Large databases (3-10 TBs) – Completed
    • Phase 4: X-large databases (10+ TBs) – Completed
Q&A
  1. Does the resize/more disk space impact all queues (heavy and norm) and SPRE?

A - No impact. It will add more SPRE resources.

  2. What is the expected timeline for fixing the historical  final action claims issue?

A - No resolution date at the moment.

  3. Are we expecting CSAT to be updated tomorrow (10/28)?

A - CSAT is in progress. We want to validate the results. It will be available by Monday at the latest.

  4. Is there any update on the Notebook alternative to Zeppelin?

A - The pilot is completed, waiting on further direction from CMS.

  5. When should we expect zeppelin to no longer be available?

A - It is dependent on the Notebook decision.
