Sumit Mohan, MD, MPH

Columbia University

Sumit Mohan is an Associate Professor of Medicine & Epidemiology at Columbia University and leads the Columbia University Renal Epidemiology (CURE) group. Dr. Mohan is a nephrologist and clinical researcher whose research is focused on identifying/lowering barriers to care, reducing disparities, and improving outcomes for patients with kidney disease. His research is funded by the NIH and he has over 200 peer reviewed publications

He has served for several committees for a variety of national organizations involved in kidney disease and transplantation in the United States including UNOS, SRTR, ASN, NKF, AST and CMS Technical Expert Panel (TEPs). He is an award-winning clinical educator and is currently the Deputy Editor of Kidney International Reports. Dr. Mohan has an MBBS from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and an MPH from the University of Northern Colorado. He completed an Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology and Hypertension fellowship at Harlem Hospital Center and a Renal Transplant fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
